Room Leader/ Educator - Early Learning Centre


Job Description:

To continue to maintenance of an effective, quality, childcare program in a safe, secure environment at the Murray Valley Early Learning Centre in Robinvale.

The MVAC Room Leader is responsible for safe supervision and control of the children in care as directed by the MVAC Coordinator. This involves planning and implementing early childhood educational programs in accordance with the curriculum Belonging, Being and Becoming.



You must have a valid working with children’s check, police check and proof of triple COVID-19 vaccination or medical exemption.


Responsibilities



  • Take responsibility for supervising the care of children at all times and providing a caring and secure
  • Interact with children in a manner that will enhance each child's self esteem and self concept, including participating in the integration of children wih special needs
  • Assist in the development and implementation of fortnightly plans of activities which provide educative experiences and routines
  • Undertake observation of the effect of the program and make recommendations to the Coordinator
  • Discuss appropriate planning of activities as a result of observations of child behaviour in accordance with appropriate guidelines
  • Assist with supervision of trainee/s in implementing programs, maintaining high levels of work standards
  • Follow correct procedures in the event of any accident/illness of a child in care and document all aspects of of the incident
  • Participate in routine housekeeping, ensuring a high standard of hygiene and tidiness are maintained including keeping the centre area safe and neat

Qualification and Experience



  • Diploma of Early Childhood/ Cert III of Early Childhood
  • A current First Aid Certificate
  • Victorian Working with Children Check

Education, Qualifications and Experience


Essential:

  • Experience in working with Aboriginal individuals and/or families experiencing crisis due to family / domestic violence issues 
  • Demonstrated capacity to work with people in crisis that may have numerous complexes needs such as drug and alcohol issues 
  • Demonstrated capacity and sensitivity to culture/age/gender/religious differences for people in crisis 
  • Experience in working in a case management framework 
  • Adequate administration and computer skills including the ability to undertake general office duties such as case noting, maintaining legislated files, filing, faxing and email correspondence 
  • Good communication skills both written and oral 
  • Ability to prioritise work by effective planning, time management and implementation of work plans 
  • Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills relating to both problem solving and implementing strategies to achieve quality outcomes  
  • Knowledge of support services across the Northern Loddon Mallee Region 
  • Knowledge of and participation in existing support networks 
  • A current First Aid Certificate Level 2 
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence 
  • Certificate 3 in Community Services
